St. Michaels provides clean drinking water, rent and school supplies for a literacy school of 200 children in rural Santa Marta, Colombia. The area is located in a hidden barrio, made up of people displaced from the Civil War that ravaged the region 15 years ago. The families of these students have experienced violence from the paramilitary and the FARC. By educating these children, St. Michael’s is helping to break the circle of poverty, and fulfill their long awaited anticipation of the glory of God. This summer we are planning an outreach mission to the foundation to install water filters and to repair impoverished structures that aren’t suitable or safe for inhabitants.
