Every year 500,000 people climb on top of la bestia (a series of trains from the south of Mexico) trying to reach the US. 99% of women who flee violence in Central America believe in a widespread myth that women with children are automatically granted asylum in the US. Between illiteracy and desperation it is hard to come up with solutions for such a huge tragedy. Thousands of people lose their limbs falling off of la bestia, we are lucky enough to hear the stories of those who escape with their lives.

Through the generosity of this parish, and all who support the St, Michael’s thrift shop, we are able to provide free prosthetics to people who fall off of the train. Our Mexican practitioner Angel Baeza Silva, is a true angel in every sense of the word. Click here to see his story and learn about his ministry visit.
