El Desayunador Salesiano is a soup kitchen run by the Selesians, that serves a hot meal to over 1,500 people each morning. There are 4,000 people living in the Tijuana canal, known as “el bordo”. 90 % of these people have been deported from the US. Without documentation in both Mexico and the US, they are unable to find work, and within a matter of 5-7 days they find themselves living on the streets in a city they know nothing about. Here at St. Michael’s, we have no political agenda. We believe that all of God’s children are entitled to food, water, shelter, and above all, God’s love and mercy.
